2019 Pinot Noir, Bentrock
Bentrock is the westernmost vineyard along Santa Rosa Road in the Santa Rita Hills. The site’s proximity to the Pacific Ocean, combined with the north-facing hilly topography made up of clay, sediment, shale and diatomaceous earth soils, produces wines full of character. An attractive deep ruby in the glass, the 2019 Bentrock Pinot Noir seamlessly showcases the unique characteristics typical of wines from this special site. On the nose, this wine shows notes of rose petals, wild mint, and blood orange. On the palate, dense red fruit flavors such as pomegranate, red cherry and raspberry blend seamlessly with elegant chalky tannins and crushed rock minerality. The wine features high natural acidity as is typical of wines from the Bentrock vineyard, which will help it to age gracefully and develop complexity over the next 3-5 years.
