2018 Pinot Noir, Rancho La Viña
The Rancho la Viña vineyard is located in the southwestern corner of Sta. Rita Hills and is made up of sandy loam soils. The vineyard is one of the farthest west in the region, which provides a direct path to the Pacific. This extreme maritime-influenced location presents strong fog and winds, resulting in an especially cool summer climate. With its provocative currant color in the glass, our 2018 Rancho La Viña Pinot Noir elegantly showcases the nuances of this special site. On the nose, this wine shows black currant, oregano and baking spices. Tantalizing notes of plum and cherry fruit lead to intriguing savory flavors of chewy tobacco and cracked black pepper. At first sip, bright acidity tickles the tongue and reveals a firm tannic frame which extends into a long finish. Intense and bold, we recommend enjoying the 2018 Rancho la Viña Pinot Noir with good company and barbequed meats.
