2017 Pinot Noir, Rancho La Viña
A beautiful ruby red core and black hints at the rim of the glass. Our 2017 Rancho la Vina Pinot Noir shows its cool climate credentials in its intense color and hue. Soaring aromas of cherry pie, brown baking spice, blood orange, and vanilla dominate the nose. Further hints of star anise complement this complex wine and add interest and intrigue. On the palate, our 2017 rendition repeats the classic racy acidity that has come to characterize this phenomenal vineyard. Light tannins balance the zesty acids and support bright red fruits, maraschino cherries, and haunting suggestions of Mediterranean herbs. The 2017 RLV is a near-term wine, and it would be a shame not to drink it now in all its exuberance. A slight chill, good friends, and grilled Pacific Northwest salmon are indicated.
