2018 Pinot Noir, Bentrock
Bentrock is the westernmost vineyard along Santa Rosa Road in the Santa Rita Hills. The site’s close proximity to the Pacific Ocean, combined with the north-facing hilly topography made up of clay, sediment, shale and diatomaceous earth soils, produces wines full of character. A striking medium ruby color in the glass, the 2018 Bentrock Vineyard Pinot Noir is a beautiful representation of the possibilities of the famed Bentrock vineyard. On the nose, complex and savory aromas of wood smoke, leather, tobacco and meat blend seamlessly with classic Sta. Rita Hills Pinot Noir notes of dark cherry, cranberry and black licorice. This powerful and serious wine is decidedly dense on the palate and framed by alluring acidity and velvet tannins. Enjoy this wine now or allow it to age for another 3-5 years to reveal additional savory and tertiary aromas.
