Alma Rosa Winery is deeply rooted in the
winemaking history of  the Sta. Rita Hills appellation.

In the early 1970s, the unique geography, moderate climate and clay-loam soils attracted winery founder Richard Sanford to this area of Santa Barbara County, where he pioneered Pinot Noir and planted the region's first certified organic vineyard.

Today, Alma Rosa Winery remains committed to organic farming on its estate vineyard, which Richard planted in 1983.
